We fell in love with Sofia from the day she hit the ground. She is one of those calves that with one look you think “she is deep bodied”, and then with the next look you think “she’s really long”. The fact is that she is just very well-proportioned with plenty of depth, length, and width. And, she does all of this while maintaining an overall feminine and showy appearance. She’s also sound on her feet and legs. We really believe that she has the parts to potentially compete very well in the show ring.
She’s halter broke and ready to hit the road. In fact, Sofia already has one show, and one class win, under her belt from the East Texas Fair Open Show. Not only did she win her class in Tyler, but she also turned a few heads and got several compliments in the barn.
Her sire is the ever-popular and highly sought after +TFJ SMOKIN GUN 109/7, who’s offspring have competed at the highest levels in the breed in recent years. Given the high price that his semen has brought in a recent auction, Smokin Gun is arguably the hottest Red Brahman bull in the breed, and his daughters are rare and in high demand.
Her dam is no slouch either. The 14 year old HK MS PASSPORT 698 has successfully produced offspring for HK Ranch, Chaparral Ranch, and Caddo Creek for over a decade now. Several of 698’s daughters have become donor cows themselves, and several have been shipped to breeders in various places around the world. 698 just weaned a natural calf and she still moves as well or better than any other cow on my place. Longevity and fertility are there in 698! In fact, at least two full sisters to Sofia are currently used as donors today by successful breeders, and we have no doubt that Sofia should make a donor caliber cow as well.
