The time and effort spent raising my market steer Bojangles a red shorthorn was a valuable learning experience. For the past several months I have worked and cared for my steer. I feed him Stanley's Show Finisher twice daily; twenty pounds per feeding. In addition he receives cooked barley to help with weight gain. On March 16th he weighed 1045 pounds. In the evenings I walk my steer for thirty minutes. At the same time it allows me to practice showmanship. Spending time together allowed us to establish a relationship. BoJangles also received weekly baths to keep his coat clean and cool in the warmer months. It has been a privilege learning how to raise and care for a steer. The time and effort has given me a better understanding and appreciation for agriculture.
