The Lorena cow was bought by us from LMC in a twelve package cow deal a couple years ago. She is as good as a Simbravieh female gets. Extremely sound, pretty and plenty stout. And in her prime as well. Her first steer was a placing county steer out of Goliath, and the next will be shown by us this fall. She is carrying a Braveheart baby and her ECD is 7/13/15. This one has as much promise as her previous two.
The only reason we are selling 282 is that she is our only late calving cow. She came to us short bred, and is outside the window of the other cattle we calve out every year. If she was a spring calver, she would never go. However, our labor and management has to revolve around a small spring calving window, and she doesn't fit in that window. We either hold her open six months or sell her. Believe me, the jury is still out on my decision to sell.
Her value as a Simbravieh female is unlimited. But if you want to see her true potential, come take a look at the club calf babies we have from our Simbravieh cows. They are outstanding, one of which was our $11,000 consignment to the Lucherk sale this spring. His mother was similar to 282, and I'm telling you to breed her to the right steer bull and you'll have an american steer all day long that can do well.
