I’m Avery Ford this is my fourth year showing livestock. I am a member of Bows and Bullets 4-H club and am currently serving as Junior Vice President. This year I raised a Star 5 heifer (Delta Dawn) two Charolais steers (Amp and Bernard) along with a barn full of pigs (who are also named). This gentle giant (weighing over 1300 lbs) is Amp. I have spent countless hours caring and working with him so that he would respond to me. Lots of TLC and discipline were put into this ‘project’. We quickly came to an agreement that despite our size difference we could be buds! The most important lesson I have learned this show season is that things don’t always go as planned. While HLSR Rodeo Austin and RCFA were cancelled I’m grateful for the opportunity that I have been given to present one of my best ‘buds’ Amp.
