There are only a handful of semen straws left in existence but here is a rare OPPORTUNITY, in public auction, to acquire and utilize the legendary LMC EF JW Black bull. JW Black has done as much as any sire for La Morra Ranch, and many other champion breeders, in terms of modernizing our cattle, building them more eye appealing, solidifying color patterns and adding natural thickness. He has a knack for hitting that home run we all look for when we search for that GO TO SIRE. There are no guarantees in the cattle business, but what we do have is predictability and JW Black has been dependable through the years for various breeders.
JW Black’s sire, PMS Second Coat, came from our good friend John Howard at a Stagg Cattle Company Sale. Second Coat was a solid red, Simmental bull that raised some good females for La Muneca. Unfortunately, both he and JW Black deceased early, therefore semen has been limited. JW Black’s dam LMC EF Joslin J9966 has been a productive cow herself, producing a champion for Miranda Carrera by LMC Rhino, a Reserve Class Champion Steer at RGVLS for Carlos III and recently another stylish show steer by LMC Gold Medal that Area X FFA President Emily Dreyer.
As far as JW Black progeny goes, he has had a great run over the last few years. Hagan Cattle Company was an early semen investor and it has paid off for them in a big way. With several JW Black influenced cattle winning major shows including the 2020 Superbowl, San Antonio Junior Show and the International Show. Avery Rendon led her double bred JW Black to Reserve Grand Champion honors at the Roundup. Triple C Cattle was one of the more recent investors and their JW Black cattle sold well in their sale earlier this year and two of them made it to the winner’s circle already for Emily Denny. But his progeny includes many more champions to include LMC Jonnie Walker, BBS Jennie Walker, LMC VG Go Getter, LMC HS Rocco, LMC ATZ Dr. Feel Good, LMC ATZ Miley, Hagen Arapaho and more.
JW Black is in the TOP 10% for Carcass Weight & Average Daily Gain; 15% for Ribeye Area, as well as the TOP 25% for Maternal Calving Ease. Any which way you look at this investment, it is sound. The track record, pedigree clout and phenotype are all there with JW Black to help you take your next mating to the NEXT LEVEL!
