Yes, you’re seeing that starting bid right! We thought adding this heifer to the sale and starting her at a point that anyone could afford to allow anyone, and everyone, the chance to bid would be a fun addition. The reason Mira 158/1 is perfect for this is because she is extremely gentle with an awesome personality, a good pedigree and a quality phenotype. Mira got her name as short for “miracle” since it’s a miracle she’s still here to be offered. Mira was born in the winter storm of 2021 and unfortunately lost her mother shortly thereafter during the freezing weather. She absolutely refused a bottle but took to a nurse cow and we thought she was going in the right direction. A few weeks later I found her laid out, weak and unable to get up. Apparently since we had stopped staying with her while she nursed, she had quit getting it on her own. As a last ditch effort, we took her to the vet where she stayed on an IV for several days and regained her strength, and figured out that a bottle wasn’t that bad. Since her rough beginning, she’s done nothing but get better. She’s got a cool pattern and style that would fit into any breeding program with a pedigree to back it up, being out of our JDH Massai Manso 608 son and her mother being a tremendous +Mr. V8 380/6 daughter who is also the donor dam of lot 11, and one of my best spring born calves this year. Mira has been our barn pet for a while, and we think it’s time for her to bring joy to someone else’s pasture. If you’re looking for a heifer to start a young person’s herd that has the temperament and the quality to be a strong foundation, you should strongly consider this gal.
