Grade 8 - RABBITS - Preparing to show rabbits and commercial heifers has been the start of every morning for many months. My name is Rylie Samford and I’m offering a pen of market rabbits for your consideration. The buck and doe I used for breeding were Mordecai and Sweetheart. I am the most knowledgeable youth in my household about rabbit conformation so it is my responsibility to ensure that we pair breeding rabbits that will accentuate each others’ strengths. I do most of the logistics to produce premium sale quality pens of market rabbits year after year but my morning chores include milking a cow so my siblings take responsibility for their daily care. The most important life lesson in raising market animals is that I’m the one who is ultimately responsible for their lives. This year the most important lesson has been in flexibility and resilience.
