With every sale we consign to I struggle with which animals to sell. Because I get attached to the heifers as calves, I always want to keep them all, much to Dan’s dismay! We have been breeding Herefords since 1986 and “Bliss” comes from one of my favourite foundation females, “Crystal”. Purchased as a yearling in ’92 from Gregg Frederick, Crystal produced many females for us until she was 15 years of age. These females were always the ‘show cattle’ due to their style and overall eye appeal. Bliss’s mother “Summer” was a 4-H project for our son Mark, and is now our oldest herd matron, consistently producing a fantastic calf every year whether it is a bull or a heifer. Still very youthful at 9 years of age with a fabulous udder and an abundance of milk, she has produced a full sister to Bliss this year, which is why I could part with this one. Bliss has all the eye appeal and class of the many females from the “Crystal” family since 1991. A daughter of ‘Excite’ only sweetens this package and bred to ‘Roy’ should produce another show candidate. This is a winning combination all around!
