Grade 5 - RABBITS - My name is Addyson Lopez and I have been breeding and showing rabbits for the past 3 years. Since I have to own the bucks and does prior to December we breed and raise them year round to ensure efficient breeding and grooming for adults and babies. We feed them Petrus 50/50 and change their water daily. In the summer we have cooling fans on them to ensure they do not overheat and in the winter we keep them cozy and warm. We check their ears teeth and fur daily and worm them regularly to keep them healthy year round and make sure their fur is nice and fluffy. This experience has taught me a great deal of responsibility and it keeps me active and outdoors when other kids are inside on electronics. The reward is trying to breed the best doe to the best buck to get the best pen of three. I work with them daily to make them gentle enough to be handled and judged. I understand the reasoning behind canceling the show but am disappointed at the same time for missing out on the experience. I will continue to raise my best rabbits this next year to have a great year next year!
