It’s not every day that you can purchase semen on a bull that was purchased from the JD Hudgins show barn – but when we bought Fenmore, we knew we wanted to be able to let him build a record of his success as a sire through sharing his genetics within the US, so in the negotiations we were granted the domestic sale of ONLY 5 straws per calendar year. We sold 3 straws in April, so these 2 will be the last of the year. This is your chance to get genetics that would otherwise be unavailable except through the expensive purchase of a live animal. As you can imagine, to make the show string at JD Hudgins, Fenmore exhibited a high-quality phenotype, being moderate in his frame size, sound structured and extremely muscular over his top and when studied from behind. He has passed this quality on to his offspring, with his first calf crops producing several show females and herd sires that are now beginning to go into use in their own herds. Notably, he was the sire of our 2023 Brahmans at the Camellia Sale that sold for $9,000. From a pedigree standpoint, he offers a rare combination of being an outcross to most widely used lines, while still being sired by a very popular bull. You’ll recognize his sire, JDH Massai Manso 608, as the sire of the 2023 International Grand Champion Bull, as well as other championship winning bulls over the last several years. He’s good enough to be widely used in embryo transfer, with a birthweight safe to use on heifers.
