Grade 3 - BROILERS - My name is Jaci Kram. I am a 3rd grader at Roland Reynolds Elementary. I love animals. My brother wanted to show chickens so I thought that would be fun. One day my dad got the chickens. They were so cute and little. We started feeding them and giving them water. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed it. Soon after we culled the chickens. This means we only kept the good ones. Mrs. Melanie came to help us with this. We had to add electrolytes to the water during this time to keep them healthy. After this they got very BIG and not so cute! We started feeding them and giving them water 6-8 times a day. I learned that in order to raise chickens you have to get dirty check on them often and make sure they always have feed and water.
