Grade 3 - BROILERS - My name is Jolie Bush and I am a third grader in Franklin. This was my first year to show an animal in the fair. My brothers have raised chickens before and they helped me learn all about chickens. I had to take care of chickens for 5 weeks and it is hard work. We had to give them feed and water before school and check on them when we got home from school. I spent a lot of time over Spring Break cleaning pens and feeding chickens. We had to weigh them and sort them every week. I learned that raising an animal is hard work and sometimes dirty. I am sad I didn’t get to show in front of people but I really want to try again next year.
