BCC Lady Darla 215/2 is the last show heifer prospect selling, but there’s no reason for that other than her being the oldest of the offering. We really intensified our program this spring in order to bring you the very young show heifer prospects you see at the front of the sale. In the past, this is roughly the age we sold most of our heifers and Darla got caught in the transition period, but that does nothing to diminish the breeding value that she has. Darla is sired by +JDH Sir Shank 51/7 who is also represented as the sire of lots 3 and 9. Darla has a lot of resemblance to +JDH Shank’s most notable daughter, the National and Reserve International Champion, Lady H Mae Manso 66/9. The dam to Darla, is our best cow, whose influence can be seen widely in this offering and our herd for years to come, +Lady H Emma Manso 288/2. You’ll recognize +Emma for her multiple high sellers, and champions, but we’re probably most proud of her calves ability to go out and produce marketable, quality offspring themselves. When we mated these 2 individuals, our goal was to produce a massive, soggy breeding piece, but instead we got a female that has this mass and rib shape, but also a very refined look and a perfect set of feet and legs. She’s not the extreme mass and power we bred for, but I’ve got to say we’re pleased with the result as Darla is a more complete heifer just the way she is!
Special Notes
Started on halter and in show barn.
Bentke Cattle Company retains the right to two (2) successful IVF procedures after the conclusion of the female’s show career at the buyer’s convenience and the seller’s expense.
