Grade 7 - GOATS - Hi my name is Tyler Liere! I am 13 years old and attend Franklin Middle School. I have been raising goats for the RCFA for 5 years now. I would like to introduce you to my heavy-weight goat ‘Thunderbird’. I have 2 brothers who helped me with Thunderbird this year - Logan who is in 6th grade and also shows goats and Mason who is 5 but thinks he knows more about goats than any of us. We would exercise our goats in the field next to our house. We also set up an imaginary show ring in our front yard. Logan and I would pretend to compete against each other for showmanship and Mason would be the judge. We would do this afterschool most days and on weekends. This year Thunderbird has taught me the importance of patients. When I first started working with him he was hard-headed and didn’t want to set up for me. I would get upset quickly and he would sense that. When I took my time and remembered that this was new for him too we both did much better. As we worked together and got to know each other Thunderbird and I became a pretty good show team.
