Grade 9 - GOATS - Hello my name is Taylor Hinton. I am 14 years old and I am a freshman at Mumford High School. I am a member of Mumford 4H and this year my project is a market show goat. His name is Nugget and he weighs about 92 pounds. He is 10 months old and he is well built. I started this project by finding a good quality breeder and picking a good quality goat. I have learned with my project that you need to have good genetics good feed management and an exercise program to maintain a good quality show animal. Before we picked up Nugget we prepared the barn by cleaning and disinfecting it. We also picked up the feed hay and shavings. In this project I have learned that you have to work with multiple times a day to prepare it for the show arena throughout the course of my project. I have learned how to maintain and trim hooves and treat their skin and hair. I have also learned that keeping proper records on my project is important for the animals health. Lastly I learned that all the prep before the show is needed in order to your animal to look and perform at its best. Thank you again.
