My name is Montanna Trapp, I am an 8th grader at Lyford Middle School, a member of Lyford FFA and Willacy County 4-H; I have been showing for 6 years. This year my project taught me that you can reach your goals even through adversity and times of unknow if you don’t give up. At the beginning of the 2020- 2021 show year my top goal was to win the Intermediate Heifer Showmanship Division with the Texas Junior Livestock Association, then COVID-19 hit and shows started to cancel and it seemed as though my goal would become unattainable. Even though I wasn’t’ sure if I would be able to reach my goal, I continued to go the barn and work hard every day with my heifers in hopes shows would return. Through hard work and dedication within our livestock industry, shows started to slowly return. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend as many shows that I could through the summer, fall, and winter. Through this hard work and dedication, I was able to reach my top goal and won the 2020 Intermediate Texas Junior Livestock Association Heifer Showmanship Champion. My future plan is to graduate from Texas A&M University, College Station with an Animal Science Degree with a minor in Business; once I completed that I would like to attend Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine to become a large animal vet.
